Re: Huge Acacia fornesiana
Is it still alive or you going to use it as deadwood?
Great piece of old gnarly wood as it is.

Ka, How does it survive with so few roots?
Will be quite something if it does pull through.

Re: Huge Acacia fornesiana
if this stump was in hawaii, I would say it'd be a miracle if it grew. in the PI hardwood stumps seem to recover and grow (like saw cut pemphis for instance) with few problems, so I wish you good luck. keep us informed how the tree does. this is a beauty.

Re: Huge Acacia fornesiana
Friends,
This Acasia was uprooted 8 months ago near my place along the seashore. It weighs approximately 50 kg. I planted it on the vacant lot at the back of my house with very few roots. I let it grew wild and in eighth months, the branches grew thick for about and inch. This material is fast growing and so sturdy with mortality rate of almost nil. The roots shown in the picture is 10 times of the original roots eight months ago, so I'm quite sure this one will survive. I gave it as a birthday gift to Ka pabling and I'm looking forward for the great future of this tree as it is now in my good friends good hand.

Hi Jun, I think the size of the pot is good enough, the lifeline of the tree is that trunk in the middle , the two other trunks are both deadwoods Regards, ka pabling

Ok Mang Pabling. Good luck with this tree. I think the second photo is a good reference for the design position.

Hi Jun,
That position was one of my options but then the deadwood in the middle will be blocking the live trunk, so the first pic on page one is still my choice. I am thinking of a smaller and a bit deeper pot so the two deadwoods on the sides will be given more prominence

Re: Huge Acacia fornesiana
What a wild piece of wood. Upon seeing it, immediately envisioned a Chinese wooden ship with the prow sticking out.
Couldn't resist making a virtual.
Since you said you wanted a deeper pot, here is one with the deadwood hanging over the edge.
Couple of years ago I tried a Sweet Acasia that was collected by me in Florida but I could never get it to make a decent branch and it slowly died.
Good luck with yours.

Thanks for the virtuals Rob the second one with the deadwoods hanging over the edge is what I am planning .There is still lots of work to be done in cleaning the deadwood.
It has been six days since I planted this stump, and I would like to thank all those who wished me good luck for this tree. my acacia friend Sam said that if this tree were in his country, it would be a miracle if it will survive .Tomorrow I will be posting pictures of lovely little buds coming out.
best wishes
