OK Jun, but I will only give the reward to the one close to my restyled design...

Re: DESIGN EXERCISE
2nd go!
when you really assess the material tree it has a thin poorly curved trunk (like a parallel bow with no taper) sat on a fat base, and we are told it cant be bent, so for me you cut off what is poor or unworkable and work with the best part - a powerfull strong based shohin ,it makes good use of the nice base, especially as the larger trees show a very poor step from the short fat base to the long thin trunk.
best wishes
Marcus

it is like the lottery....the more you play ...the more you are the possible winner
it is a joke of course
this tree is not so easy
as marcus said...the trunk line is a bit hard
i find pavels projects nice...but i can t wait to see your solution

Re: DESIGN EXERCISE
Ok then, since you like broken pots, how about taking it a bit further, a broken bucket with a simple hanging branch design adding a few tons of rock. Enough foliage mass to counter the now heavy rocks.

Re: DESIGN EXERCISE
Haha..why not using some scretch pieces from your rocket.....
Since I really want to send out my New Year Gift, so I will give you some clue...
Neither the trunk nor the branches would be bent, just use the existing branches to refine the ramification to form the foliation..and simply use either one of the angles I posted....
