Marcus, good news...The Premna yamadori from Indonesia will be soon available on sale in Europe. A friend of mine is importing and very likely arrived Europe in February, but he wants me to wait till they arrived before telling any details...
Re. My idea. Nooo Marcus. When I got this, it was grafted with Premna mycrophilla, but I don't like it because it can die back easily and I don't need such small leaves as the original (P. serratifolia) can be small enough compare to the tree size. I will take off all those and grow new branches...

Re: ANOTHER DESIGN EXERCISE
Prehistoric visions inspired this design.
You might have to shorten and steam the jin to bend it. Also rotate the tree toward the camera a bit for this design.

A bit of rotation and I see more extinct animals. This time it's the T-Rex with those little dangling arms.

Re: ANOTHER DESIGN EXERCISE
I second that. Great vision Jun!!!!
Great job Robert. I really enjoy your posts here. So far you have been my most influential experience in the bonsai world. Your books and your posts have helped me leaps and bounds. You keep posting these design challenges and I may have to hook up my OLD computer with Photoshop on it. I want to get in on this deal. LOL
Merry Christmas to everyone!!!!

Premna in Europe? Will it survive? In my opinion, I believe that depending on the country, they won't survive the cold. Just a thought...

Carlos, it will survive in some countries... For sure, it will survivein Florida, but just no way to ship to USA now. Too complicated...

I can confirm they do very well in Florida. I have several shohin and hundred of cuttings but nothing terribly intricate like specimens collected from the woods. However, they are fast growing and are great for tanuki/phoenix graft - maybe the best specimen I've seen for making a tanuki/phoenix graft. Even have several in the ground to fatten them up.
Others in Florida have cutting so in a few years we will have interesting material to work with.

Thanks Guys, all of you. You've been good teachers (novice and masters/experts alike) to me...
Hey Robert. Is getting wild a Bad or a Good thing?... I got some extra conservative trees too, Styled in the strict ways of the Japanese.( I'll post it soon hehehe).
"We have so many in common"-----I assume that's love for beers, and appreciation for beautiful women.
