will it make more buds all over or is it just the green shoots we can see?
I think you need to look at every angle first and find one where the inverse taper is not so bad -A good front will be where the trunk gets thinner as is goes up rather than fatter in the middle. Once we have the best front we will see where the green shoots are and make the tree from there.

Don't forget to show the roots/nebari (don't cover it)...the taper consideration and front selection starts there.
How does this specie respond to air (or ground) layering? It might open up a ton of options for you. Carving may also help with options.

you should move this tree into our sticks in pot thread until it actually has some branches - it can be the first knobbly stick
can you take a picture of the best front based on the comments already made about taper etc. thanks
