Re: Show the Autumncolour from your bonsai
Hello Ed. Your Berberis is coming on leaps and bounds. Very nice indeed.

Re: Show the Autumncolour from your bonsai
A bunch of years ago I acquired several seedlings each of "rock hornbeam" and "red-leaf hornbeam". I remember thinking the seller had switched the tags, because the rock hornbeam's leaves were redder than those of the red-leaf hornbeam. I guess those are the perils of relying on common names!Brett Summers wrote:Turczaninovii (which i think has also picked up the common name of rock hornbeam?) has distinctly more redness to the new growth. The one that my local nurseryman calls Turczaninovii is almost a bronze red colour until the leaves mature.

The last days of fall
Another fall storm upon us....................and the last of the fall leaves are falling off but I did get a shot of fall colour before I had to come in.
Nothing fancy just a little Larch and a Jap. Maple project.
Cheers

Thank you, thank you and thank you again!
Fall colour is #1 on the list of 'what I love about bonsai'
Thought I would never have a Zelkova, now I do........hope I can say the same about Korean Hornbeam one of these years.

Autumn Color
How interesting. Acer platanoides, Norway maple, is as common as grass in this country, but never produces any autumn color, just sickly yellow.

I have a maple like this one too...has the same fallcollors, but this is because it is the red varity...like I must asume this one is....green leafes give the soft fallcolors.

Re: Show the Autumncolour from your bonsai
Hallo Iris,
Hallo Yvonne,
it is the first time in 13 years that the tree has this beautiful color in autmn. Nomaly the color is yellow how Iris wrote.
I think this is because the weather this autumn. 14 days ago we had a little snow and just a little frost.
This was only for one or two days. And now it is 15 to 20 C degrees warm, so that the leaves dont fall down.
Thats why i took a foto.
regards
Herbert

Re: Show the Autumncolour from your bonsai
This is my Formal Upright Larch which I posted a progression of a few weeks ago.
This Japanese Maple was potted into a bonsai pot for the first time this spring. It is approximately 15 years old and 12" tall. The pot is a little large but I tend to overpot initially and the tree does need to expand over the next few years.
