Multiple phoenix/tanuki grafts on juniper?
Hi everyone,
I've been looking at a few dismally small junipers in my garden lately and wondering whether it might be possible to introduce a few more interesting deadwood features with some tanuki grafts, though i'm wondering whether it might be possible to do more than 1? ...say up to 3 on one tree?
I've also been wondering whether one could possibly do a phoenix graft attached to the main trunk of a juniper, then eventually do an approach graft from the base of the live juniper trunk, around the outside edge of the tanuki deadwood, before reattaching it back to the live trunk above the deadwood to secure it tighter with the longterm aim to stripping the bark off the approach graft to make that part of the deadwood too?
Essentially to create a massive 'sail' similar to this

Multiple Juniper whips on 1 piece of deadwood https://ibonsaiclub.forumotion.com/t9071-shimpaku-juniper-tanuki
You can see the one in the front of the pictures with another juniper whip in the back.

Thank you, that partially answers the question, but i was more after info as to whether anyone had done a tanuki with multiple pieces of deadwood, or whether anyone had done a tanuki before eventually making part of the live vein attached to it extra deadwood too if that makes any sense
