NEW CONTAINER SELECTION- HELP NEEDED
Today I transplanted my Shishigashira Japanese maple bonsai and suddenly found 7 suitable containers! Usually it's difficult to get one which is good, but I was lucky and found 7. Well, I did steal one container from another Shishigashira bonsai which was potted.
After I removed the bonsai from the "old" container the roots fit in each of the new containers, so I simply set the tree in each pot and took a quick snapshot.
My senior crew and I discussed each selection, had many opinions and finally we came up with the "perfect" container.
Which is your choice for this bonsai?
I'll let you know which container finally was selected later after I hear your opinions. I'll take a new photo of it later, but it's potted, mossed and prepared for an upcoming show. I'll explain why we selected the one we did later on.
Have fun!
Bill

Re: NEW CONTAINER SELECTION- HELP NEEDED
I would go SHALLOW CREAM OVAL POT, in my opinion this suits best. (though the deep cream oval is prabably better for the tree and easier to maintain/water, i dont know what conditions the tree will be in)

Re: NEW CONTAINER SELECTION- HELP NEEDED
I think I like it best with the blue pot.

Re: NEW CONTAINER SELECTION- HELP NEEDED
If you intend to show it in the fall when thefoliage is orange and red, I would go with the blue pot, although the blue pot you show doesn't look very blue and it seems a bit small.

Hi
I think the deep oval is the best shape/size, but none of the colours seem to match for me
Might just be due to the photos, lovely tree anyway!

Number 1 and number 7 are my favorits. Number 1 is the best in design, but too small. Number 7 is long enough, but should be just a bit higher. If you force me to make a decision I would take number 7.

Re: NEW CONTAINER SELECTION- HELP NEEDED
I tend to be a traditionalist when it comes to pots, I think Maples need a deeper pot to be healthy, but I really don't think any of these are long enough. I also agree with Rob about color. Again I would use a blue pot if I was going to show with the leaves in the fall, other wise I would use an unglazed pot, especially during the months when the tree is without leaves, I think a glazed pot then would really distract.

I agree with Walter. It looks to me like the 2 cream ovals are the only pots big enough that you show. I like either of them, but wish the first was bigger. Beautiful maple, btw.

Hello
For me the shallow cream oval pot, is the one to comes out the quality's of your tree. , the shape and colour are very good to benefit the beautiful green colour of foliage and the colour of the tronc.
best regards

I don't know what it is, but there is something about that green pot that intrigues me. But then again, what do I know about maples ?? It is a fantastic tree Bill !
