Not sure what you are doing here. Even if it is just above the water surface, with water flowing over it, more so if the rock is in the water, I question the advisability, since the limestone will gradually dissolve, introducing calcium ions into the water, raising the pH, and producing hard water. Have you tested the water? Unless you have a problem with acid rain, why do it? Have you checked to see if there are copper ions in the water?

Re: water container
hi iris
this is just my glorified rain barrel since the old one cracked during winter
i made it because .i like using rain water instead of tap(save the earth)for my trees...i also like water in my garden
the limestone is as hard as rock...no pun intended.. ...i burned out a drill making the holes
the water usually lasts less than a week ..unless we get a lot of rain
so i am not worried about the ph
as for copper...my trees have copper wire on them...my fertilizer contains copper...and i use a copper watering can
for three years since i started using this setup the trees have been healthy and happy

Hi Andy, What do you have covering your roof - tar shingles or wooden shingles?

I think You need consultance about the galvanic electricity for the watering cooper cam and the metal big cam full of water,
I´m not a electrical engineering but is good advice you ask for one.
Best regards Alejandro
