Some of our accent plants we used in our displays at the Bonsai South West Exhibition
Here are some photos of the accent plants (Shitakusa and Kusamono) that we used with our displays at the above exhibition. We hope you enjoy viewing them.
First, a little Rhodohypoxis Deflexa in tiny (4cm tall) Japanese "frog pot"
Polygonum Capitatum (also know as Persicaria Capitata)
A mixed kusamono
A tiny thimble size pot of Thymus Ritta prepared for Bob's Mame display

I agree with Russell. But they're all exceptional in their own way too.

For me, I loved the little frog pot and contents.
Some lovely pictures there, Mark.
Did you get any of the gales and torential rain that was going on at the same time outside? Boy was it bad!!!!

Stunning. Number three is my favourite; actually hang on, no it's number one, or maybe number four, oh now I'm not sure; ahhh numbers one through four are my favourites

I've always enjoyed seeing your "grass things" pictures. do you keep them with your bonsai at home or in a different location, maybe to protect from heat or dehyration because of the smaller pots?

Awesome!
That mixed pot is so out there!!!
I'm blown out of water by the fact how much this hobby has advanced in Europe during my absence of only ten years!

Has summer arrived in Seattle yet my friend? ..we're still waiting here in Wales, although I hear that summer may be next Sunday this year LOL ! So not much chance of things drying out too quickly.
Seriously though, as I think you know, we have many plants and in many different size pots to suit the tree(s) that we may be displaying and that will be appropriate to the season / environment/ atmosphere we are attempting to create for the display. Hence we have everything from pots just a few cm tall for our Shohin, and upwards, and most of them are in full sun with the trees.
In fact the little frog pot with the Rhodohypoxis is out in full sun still and flowering it's head off.
The only plants we do give just a little shade to are our mini hostas (but not too much) and a few shade loving "woodlanders". Hope that helps.
Cheers, Mark & Ritta

thanks for the insight. sun here in seattle is such a precious commodity even under the best of summers, but is pretty hit or miss these days and the pines are letting us know that. Without you two i would have never been influenced to become infatuated with chojubai. Now you have me enthralled with companions. keep up the good work as the hobby benefits from your participation.
