Hi friends,
Allow me to boast with my new piece.
Yamadori Hawthorn dug in spring of 2011. Height 90cm, nebari 40cm, trunk 20cm.
After digging is planted in the garden, next spring will be enforced to the container.

Very nice material Erik,I like your idea of planting it direct to the ground the yamadodi has a better chance to survive. did you put plastic underneath it?

What a Beast
One of the best Crataegus i´ve seen, they normally don´t get big like that here in Portugal.
Very powerful trunk and a fine bark. Congratulations on the find.

Hi Erik,
nice find. Its my size of tree. Looks like its doing fine. I would personally would not put it into ground and then next year move it into container, I think it will be too early to disturb the tree again. But I like it a lot. Handling it must have been very painful experience though

Hi Erik,
I also plant direct to the ground but I always use plastic sheets to protect the new roots when I transplant the tree in a training pot. My experience is that If I dont use plastic sheets, the roots go deep and when transplanting time comes, new roots is likely to be damaged.

Hi Rui,
Thank you for your interest.
Hawthorn hibernate very well.
In the spring I will dedicate to him - I can not wait.

Amazing to see what was hiding under that bush. Very nice tree you got there and probably a once in a lifetime find (for most of us mortals at least ).
In your estimation, how long will this take from collection to reaching a descent bonsai?

...thanks
It's my first Yamadori Hawthorn, I have no experience.
But it is certain that the quality of the exhibition in Slovakia will be the least
5 years. For Noelanders T. for 10 years.

Hi all,
The buds of my crataegus, http://bonsai-literati.forumotion.com/t521-crataegus-hawthorn are starting to swell.
Two weeks more and the repotting is done.
