Saikei is a Japanese word that was coined about 40 years ago. In English we call it a tray landscape. This particular one is a Chinese style called a land and water penjing.

Yes. Other name is "bonkei" in chinese.
The original modele entitled "American fantasy" was ceated by Yuji Yoshimura in 1981 and you can see completely work on my forum

Some membrers of my club are working on creating "ishitzuki", like individual stones in your penjing. I might join them although it means I'll have to find the suitable material...
