Re: Seventh video at the Kokufu Market 2012 video at the Kokufu Market 2012
Thank you very much Xuan.
Muchas gracias Manel.
This is the first picture that I keep from this tree, January 2008 in Taisho-en just after Mario Konsta had made some more dead wood.
Front
Back
Before wiring.
From the beginning I liked with this angle to the left.
And this was the result of my training that I gave in Japan.
From 2008 to 2011 just water and fertilizer.
I decide to reduce the height of the Jin as it was too long and uninteresting
I contact the Slovak Erik Križovenský as I find very interesting the kind of pots he made.
I leave the link to his website:
http://www.atelierbonsai-element.com/en/
I asked her a pot for my tree and this was his idea:
They are pots that are far from conventional, and the people who likes classic will not be to your liking, but hey everyone does things according to your taste ....
After a few months of my order and the journey from Slovakia to Tenerife, I get the pot.
I Wire my tree as you could see in the video.
Still needs a lot of refined.
And the transplant with some haste and I set out to bring to a exhibition.
And so he went to the exhibition.
Quite like to the audience, but it didn´t convince me.
I thought I had left too much empty space to the right of the tree when the direction of the tree was just the opposite.
So I repot it.
Erik suggested me to change the front of the pot to make it look lighter and smaller.
The new front of the pot would be the picture belongs to the right of the pot where the curves are similar to the tree.
So..

The last photo is a nice improvement. How does it look in person with that much pot moving in and away from the viewer. Maybe Erik needs to make a new pot?

I like it a lot but maybe one subtle change to the foliage pad on the bottom.

I think it's a great tree, and a great pot. But together they don't look good at all.
This juniper needs a 'normal' pot in my opinion.

I'm with Nik. The pot and tree looks good on it's own. something is not right IMHO, they seems to be competing with each other. Probably the lack of base platform, Maybe if it is placed in a Suiban with water or sand and placed off center would make a difference and would complete the story line. or placed in a thin Chopped sliced of wood -"wooden bacon" or (Jiita).
Just my opinion, 2D pictures may have a biased look against the nice detailed pot moving towards the back.
regards,
jun

With all the respect to the high level and precise work of both Jose and Erik, this composition doesn't work for me.
The kurama is too large.
For me it's competing the tree, not harmonizing. This is just my opinion.

Thanks for sharing the video. Nice work on the tree but I agree with Nik and Jun that the pot does not compliment the tree. If I am not mistaken, Pavel has a very similar pot, but it is used for a semi-cascade and your pot has visual lines that directs to a semi-cascade style. I would re-consider. But after all it is like you said, if you like it use it, but be prepared for critique. Thanks agian for sharing.
