Re: larch group
I like the naturalness of the trees, Eric, and with a bit of growth it will resemble a full size larch grove on a hillock quite near where I live.
As a matter of interest, do you plan to put any moss or small plantings round the slate base? I think a little would take way the hard edges of the slate where there are quite defined "crevices". But it could only be done in a minimal way so as not to detract the eye away from the larch group.
Like it.

I like it too, and agree that the slate "wall" needs some softening by moss or alyssum, or something.
I don't think I'd want to lift this one. <---- that's me and a hernia.

Re: larch group
Very nice. My favourite tree is the larch and this looks very naturalistic.
How big is the planting aprox?

Eric, I really like the way you've put this group together. Very natural and a great perspective. Don't fancy moving it though.

That's beautifully done, Eric.
The slate (shape and colour) goes very well with this little forest but maybe it is a bit too thick: do you think it's possible to slice it down a little without breaking the whole thing ?
And maybe, I would straighten up the main tree a little...

I beg to differ. The more random angles in this planting, add to the charm and wildness. Straightening treees makes it look like forestry planting.

Re: larch group
That's really why I suggested softening it down with moss or dwarf ferns or creeping small plants like thymus or sedum. I thought it was a composite rather than a single piece of slate which would allow a "layer" to be removed. But then, that's only my opinion. Maybe Eric is quite happy with it as it is.AlainK wrote: The slate (shape and colour) goes very well with this little forest but maybe it is a bit too thick: do you think it's possible to slice it down a little without breaking the whole thing ?

Re: larch group
@ chokkan, very nice coposition.
and to fiona, there is some moss and fern, the moss has to grow and the fern has to come out.
but i will try to make some pictures, and will post them.
it can thake a few weeks but i will show the pictures.
And the slab is planted last year, so it has to grow a lot including the lowest grow.
But i am really like all the thoughts and compliments and the improvements for the group.
