Collected hawthorn with root spots

I collected about 7 of these and going back for as many as I can get tomorrow. Any thoughts on these white bumpy spots? It was the only one in the bunch that has it.

I've determined through the internet, it to be some sort of nematode or gall. Although I did not find any info regarding relations to hawthorns, but did fi d it about roses, To say the least I diddnt want to put it in a pot like that. So I scraped it off. I did damage some of the finer roots but I feel thats better than the other option.

Wouldn't you have to chemically treat nematode?

Not sure. I read something about it thru my interweb research today, they're gone for now., we'll see if they come back in a couple years once the tree recovers from collection
