How are you keeping Brian hope your well, sorry to hear you will not be coming this year but thanks for your good wishes.
If you are interested Dragon Bonsai Society will be having the AGM on Sunday 15th of November and some people are making a weekend of it staying over sat night, so we will be doing the Bonsai thing all day sat 14th and Sun 15th. The AGM will only take an hour on Sunday morning.
Everyone is welcome lets make a great weekend of it

speaking of up for grabs, I haven't forgotten your promise to give me a lovely collected hawthorn old son

Neither have I, matey! I'm collecting a stump this weekend, as it happens. If all goes well, I'll be taking it to Burrs next week to get some initial advice.
There is also a hawthorn hunting trip scheduled for next month, so hopefully the next 'Best Hawthorn in the World' will fall straight into my lap.

I Have just heard from Hans that his recent operation has debilitated him so much that he is unable to join us at Burrs this weekend. I offered his flight ticket to other bonsai folk in Holland but unfortunately nobody has been able to take up the offer at such short notice.

The artists at Burrs are Enrico Savini, Ivo Saporiti, Terry Foster... and my fair self, the ratio of artist to participant is 6-2-1

We all wish Hans the very best recovery over the next few months and look forward to seeing him in full health at the Noelanders show next year.

Gutted! I've been looking forward to meeting Hans ever since Tony put me onto his blog (which is excellent, btw).

Ah well, there's always next year.
