Shohin bonsai display in China
Recently I went to the first dedicated Shohin (Mini in Chinese) bonsai exhibition in China, Changzhou, taking place at Qinxin Garden.
As you will see in the pictures, there is differences in the way Shohin are displayed, and the aesthetic approach too. There is taken less notice of superb clean pots, or weeds and moss covering of the soil, compared to the Japanese approach. There is a clearful playing with the displays, that if you put aside the technical side, is a joy to watch. More items put into the displays than you see in the west and in Japan, where the empty spaces are of importance. It seems less important to make the "perfect" display, and more important to show what you got.
I have so many pictures that it is too demanding to post it all here, so I hope it is alright to direct you to my website for the total of 163 pictures from this exhibition: Shohin Bonsai Europe photos

Wow! Thanks.
And that next-to-last stand makes my eyes cross.

Inspirational...! Thank you so much for posting
Im interested in the grass in the last photo.. Is it a Equisetum? So nicely grown!
Jim that stand that makes your eyes cross, now that is what you call Dynamic design
I prefer the traditional though, the first stand with the dragons as feet...
Love Light and Awakening
