Formal Upright Larch Progression
This is a collected American Larch approx. 24" tall.
2009 In a nursery pot.
2010 The transformation was achieved by trimming the sacrificial branch and tying the branches down to the edge of the nursery pot with twine.
2011 Planted into a mica pot.
2012
2013 Planted into a Japanese ceramic pot and the crown reduced.

I have plenty of dramatic trees. A good formal upright Larch with a thick trunk and rough bark is harder to come by. A formal upright is supposed to be quite and dignified.abcd wrote:" />

Don't go for dramatic look, jinning the top takes away some of the traditional peaceful character.
