A very wet day but still plenty in the Dragons den
It tipped down with rain all day but plenty of members turned out
Daf brought a juniper along grown on from a whip for 2 years, he wanted to try cascading it
There was a great root system and so with some raffia and some bending it was just a matter of some wiring and branch placement. All the weaker downward facing growth was removed

I'm sure I've seen that guy with the common juniper somewhere before?
Thanks again Chris, really enjoyed.

Another very enjoyable Sunday down at the Den, I don't think I've ever come back from there without learning something new.
Andy's got a nice looking hawthorn there - I think a spin on the 'wheel of critique' will be in order when the time is right.
Cheers,
Jason

Hi Chris,
Came across this Yew today, not as many roots as I would have liked - mainly one or two growing into a hedge bank and none below - but I think it'll be alright. I don't have any bonsai soil mix made up, would multipurpose compost be OK 'til the roots have increased or would it retain too much water?
Cheers

Hi Jason'
Nice find, all my collected stock go first into multi-purpose. Everything seems to do well for the first year or two just make sure there is good drainage in what ever container they go into.
