Re: Robert Steven is in the house
more trees later...
For today I let Robert relaxed a bit. He wants nature, so I gave him a volcano.....A live/active one hehehe!
Boat ride 30 minutes...in the middle of a volcanic lake.
Hike Robert hike!!!!
No, he didn't get tired,...We took a horse ride from the beach up to the summit. The whole mountain is a volcano.
Donkey AKA small horse...
This is a lake within a lake, a volcano within a volcano one of a kind.
NO fence, no handrail allowed here...
I called this picture...........THE MASTER and THE MISTER!
..and we have lunch by the beach with some flies!
hehehe

Re: Robert Steven is in the house
Jun, Can't see the pics right now but I am almost certain from your description that this is Taal Lake/Volcano in Tagaytay. You should mention it so others can either search online or know where to go...if they ever come visit.

Would you believe that I passed Taal so many times...but NEVER stopped and really come visit? All my pics are taken from the road going to Batangas, Balayan, Calatagan, Nasugbo, and Caliraya! I regret it now.

BTW, you forgot to mention that the bigger lake is the caldera of the bigger/original volcano after it collapsed. The inner lake is the crater of the newly formed volcano...and that the volcano is still very active.

Robert's Demo/workshop on penjing...
good thing I brought my own huge pot...Didn't realized Robert wanted a huge work.
See how fast the tree moves? like a cowboy in the wild west! that is how fast he is in real life.
Some of the trees were not supposed to be used in the demo, but he grab them anyway...some guy must have lost some small trees.
The biggest tree were not part of the rock
After an hour and 15 minutes...
..again the flash moves. I think he wanted to finish it fast so that we can have lunch early.
People
Then of course photo time...
Now everybody is happy...but nobody paid for my pot.
regards,
jun

Re: Robert Steven is in the house
Hi Jun,
I am home in one piece....
I really enjoyed the whole program, very nice show with very good trees, many creative designs and very friendly people.
Although the material for the penjing demo was not ideal, but I am sure we covered the design concept...
Time was too short and we didn't have enough time to work on bonsai design, but we will meet again in May anyway.
The trip to the Taal volcano was just wonderful with the "spooky" hotel experience... , I will certainly come back for Palawan and "men" tour....
Just want to thank Jun for everything, to Ka Pabling for the breakfast and to everyone for the warm hospitality.
I will post more pictures later....

More pictures here...
This is the biggest Punica granatum bonsai I have ever seen and was claimed by Vic, the owner, but Jun told me he has a the biggest..hope he will show us here.
Philippine loves On-Rock bonsai and indeed they have real nice rocks...
Look at this creative design. Unfortunately, the open background didn't support for good pictures...
Huge Pemphis ofcourse...
Romy Dino..one of the high respected bonsai artist in Philippine..
I was supprised that there are sooo mannnyyyy landscape bonsai in Philippine...
Last but not least...a small secret for you, most of the Philippine bonsai collectors also have another serious collecting hobby... (see the small one on the table ? I wish to get one of this...)
...and I offered to barter this one with my Premna...

Robert,
Looks like you had a wonderful time. I don't know about the guns though....
Concerning the Punica (they call them granaditos in the Philippines/ a spanish name meaning little pomegranate), I believe there is a place near the General Santos area where they can be collected.
Warm regards,
Jose Luis

Re: Robert Steven is in the house
I just love those Pemphis.
I am not a Deringer guy but the 1911 and AR15/M16 (or M4?) I will take any time. At least both Jun and the other guy have good trigger habit.
