Robert Steven is in the house
Hi IBC.
It's been a busy day. Robert is an energetic, tireless artist....which I think is a little bit good too.hehehe!
....Very creative and a very nice guy. And loved by the crowd.
A very lucky club...I am not a member of this club, but the group is a bunch of very nice people.
The exhibit area...
The exhibit area and a crowd "favorite" winner of the unofficial "peoples choice award"...
I am very happy with the lot of smiles and grins this tree and kite brought to lot of kids and kid at hearth...better than the real trohy I got from my other entry...oh yeah! I GOT REAL TROPHY TOO hehehe.
Some trees first...
Later,,,More trees, Robert's workshop and critique (he doesn't want to call it a critique though, maybe an information dissemination is a politically correct term), and our happy reunion of IBC people at Ka Pabling's breakfast veranda.
For now I need a little rest...
regards,
jun

Filipino IBC guys at Ka Pabling...We stole some of Robert's time for our own good to learn a bit.
Tufoboy, Jong, Jun, I don't know who's the 4th guy, Ka Pabling, Mackoy (member of the host club and new IBCer) and Boy ...and a very dead deadwood (a real IBC lurker).
Robert reviewing my latest copy ofBCI magazine.
Preparing for a busy day ahead...
Yeh! Yeh! more trees I know, I know!!! I just wanted to show you folks how non westerner IBC guys looks like...better looking I bet
regards,
jun

Some more trees...
This tree specie below is commonly mistaken as "Murraya sp.",one of the oldest specie for bonsai use here but named wrongly.,,,I was searching seriously for a very long time for the Latin name but failed, then I saw one similar tree from Robert's book some months ago (with undetermined Latin name too). and then I finally found an opportunity to asked Robert in person if this is the same Specie that he got from China and My hunch is correct it is the tree they called in China as Polan...and We got a latin name for it now. Robert said he found the right latin name, and will send it to me later. after decades or more of wrongly naming the tree we can now have a correct Latin name for it. At last!
One more thing I think this specie is endemic to the Philippines, the ones they used in China probably came from here, as they were not found elsewhere even in Indonesia. our nearest neighbor.
Blue bell
Phempis acidula

Re: Robert Steven is in the house
Jun, I really love those huge stone pieces of art on the patio! I've never seen anything like that. Could you tell me a little about them?
And I've Never seen such a small bonsai before. That is cool!

Re: Robert Steven is in the house
Jun I think your micro is absolutely amazing, That is a work of art!!
The tree that you suspect to be wrongly named, if I look at the bark, it looks like a Diospyros species, also if it has got a very glossy leave, then I could be right, but I have been know to be wrong
The chinese hat plant is a Holmskioldia sanguinea.
Fore I think the amazing stones on the patio are actually stumps.
and David from Espana.....wat beteken die laaste woord van jou 'comments'?
I love you guys, and I love learning on this 'channel'

Re: Robert Steven is in the house
I'm curious, can you post or PM me more details? I might need a new bigger branch cutter...somehow I lost my 8" probably thrown away with some of my yamadori cuttings/trimmings. I still have 2 but both are 7" and too small for most of my trees. Thanks!jun wrote:

Some more trees...
The trophies by the way were exclusively made by local famous artist just for this particular event....special right?
Trophies below were given to the top ten trees
Blue bell
Phempis acidula
There use to be 3 figurines drinking beer under this tree, now its gone...maybe the owner took it...or somebody else did.
