Re: ficus ...fantasy style
The fantasy style with the coiled branches looks good with the dragon pot.
Pretty tree!
Best,

Well done, the development branch is impressive. How much time it took you to work?

I like this very much. In fact, I think I have a very good candidate for this treatment just waiting for to start.
Thank you for sharing.

Re: ficus ...fantasy style
the goal is to make a tree with the only vegetal rules and no referenced style...
just evocating an imaginary tree...as crazy as you can be
there is 3 years between the first and the last pics

Good going Cram. It is indeed a fantasy style. Of course you have established a precedent that will require continuous wire on, wire off but that what it is all about.
Reminds me of my sea monster Ficus, the Kracken.

it s true...it is a lot of wiring work especially with a ficus(i made some also with ulmus pines and junipers)
but it s part of the bonsai fun...
your kracken look great....ready to take a boat in one of his branches and smash it

Very nice trees Cram.
I love original and creative design of trees. designs like this are too risky to do, It is either you make it or break it attempt. Yours I think made it. It looks like a tree from some of the video games I am playing.
regards,
jun

Salut, chouette.
Quand les branches sont trop grosses (vraiment grosses) comment tu plies?
When the branches are too thick (really thick) how do you bend?

thanks jun....i ve already saw in your trees that we have some similar tastes
quatrefi...actually...the biggest branchs from the first shaping have been removed
the curves were not as dynamic than the thickest
law told me that two years ago...but i have to learn with making mistakes sometimes..euh..often

Ok, so when it's too big you cut, and starts back on smaller branches.
That's what i should maybe do on one i've got with big straight branches.
And you don't mind about the cuts? (it's quite impossible to close them with a ficus)
Thanks

Re: ficus ...fantasy style
yes it s true....the cuts are hard to close in france
for the moment i did not do anything...but in the future...i will surely make them into holes with a dremel machine
i ve some difficulties to finish it...each year my level and my look are going further
so i come back often on it to change what i see at my level of the moment
now....it is comming into something i like but i think it will change again...
i hope actually....it will surely mean that i ve reached a new step again
when i will be completly satisfied of the structure...i will work on the foliage
even if a good way to show a tree like this is maybe defoliated
