Vietnamese style bonsai (ficus)

Here's more..bonsai experts I need your idea on this, I am an expat working in Vietnam and i'm pretty amazed to this beauty produced by locals here,
its just all over the commune and every household backyard would not miss one, its product of their passion, culture and tradition. Its quite big compare to bonsais we all know about..

I like it a lot! makes me think of Indiana Jones for some reason.

Truly a "tree in a pot". Though the trunks seem awkwardly long, there is an interesting beauty about them. What is used for the soil -- seems to just be river rocks. And thanks, I will look forward to more postings.

Hi DougB/Dreamcast,
They are just using ordinary garden soil, some kind of lateritic soil (reddish in color), those rocks are just at top surface. Yes it is truly amazing, I think they don't follow any rules on doing bonsai here, its all natural just some pruning and wiring. The pots they use are also very nice in design very oriental. During my break gonna get more pics.
