With due respect Mike. Are you planning to design this tree into a bonsai? Shoots (not branches) looks too young, looks like 20-25 day old shoots. I hope you are kidding.

Here's the story. The tree almost died, and all the foliage went away. I didn't give up on the tree. It sat for over a year before new growth started to pop. Jun, you are correct about the 1 month old shoots. They indicate recovery, and a new life for this old oak. Keeping my fingers crossed.
