How well do trident maples take to wiring on older wood?

It depends on what you want to do to the branch after it is wired. Maple wood tends to be on the hard side, so trunks and large branches are reluctant to bend. Most branches will take wiring and bending reasonably well. Sharp bends can be a problem. Secondary branches wire and bend readily.
