From the NEW Stone Monkey Kiln - Page 2 Empty Pots for the Noelanders Trophy

Post  Stone Monkey Tue Jan 10, 2012 7:26 pm

Its been a while but I fired the kiln over the weekend and here are some of the pots from the firing that will be going to Noelanders with me the weekend after next. I was pleased with the whole firing and especially over the moon with the porcelain pots. There will be a few more porcelain pots at Swindon and Willowbog shows in February and March

My favorite pot from the firing made from Porcelain and really shows off the green crackle beautifully

A commission for a customer. The first time I have ever tried this under glaze technique

Thanks for looking and stop by and say hello if your going to Noelanders on the 21st Jan. I shall be set out next to Mr Tickle and his marvelous value for money Yamadori

Andy

What a great selection of pots and finishes Andy.

Your transition from gas to electric has been seamless.

The porcelain pots are a nice addition to your portfolio.

If I may ask, how was the under-glaze decoration applied? Free hand or by transfer?

I am currently looking into the transfer method myself.

Thanks for sharing.

Hope you have a great weekend at Noelanders.

Cheers,
Paul

Wonderful to see the new developments Andy. Blimey, is it really five years since you were at Burrs? That'll have to be corrected!

Thanks mate. No I was at Burrs in 2010 but not 2011. The first time I had not been in 5 years, missed it terribly, fingers crossed for my 2012 attendance mate.

Thanks mate see you the weekend after next

Cheers my friend. You picked my favorite also. I have just started working in porcelain and it lends itself beautifully to Shohin and Mame pots. A pain in the bum to work with as it is like throwing chewing gum but worth it for pots like this. Now I have to start working on the next kiln load for the Swindon show in February

I was lucky enough to see some of these pots on Monday night (before I nearly cut the top of my finger off) and they are truly amazing! If my commission pots come out half as well as these then I will be a Very Happy Monkey monkey

Nice new pots Andy. I really like the porcelain painted pots. I did some porcelain tea bowls last year and I know what you mean about throwing. I may have to try some more porcelain ideas?

I REALLY like that soft cornered rect. orange pot!!

Wow, I love that very last pot. Already looks like aged in a very believable way. How big is it? If its the right size and not spoken for I have a tree in mind for it... Razz Btw, its been nice to see you cranking out some pots again Andy--beautiful work as always.

Andy,

I see you have taken a liking to working with porcelain.

It's a bit tricky isn't it. Nonetheless, it appears you have a handle on using it to make bonsai pots.

As always, a great selection of pots and finishes.

Good luck with the show this weekend.

Cheers,
Paul
