Hi Nelson, and as I see it's your first post, welcome to the forum.
Any pics you can provide of the offending roots would be most helpful so we can see the extent of the problem.

A lot has to do with the species of plant. If you are in South Florida and the plant is a Ficus (Fig) you can cut just about anything off and the plant will come back better.
Tell us something about the plant and where you got it.
There are a number of clubs in the area, attend a meeting and get 30 opinions about what to do.

Try this web site to locate a club

There are three in your area and which one you attend could depend upon whether you are in South or North Dade County.

It should be about the same procedure as with a computer I would think. When you click to post reply, look at the icons across the top of the text box (might have to zoom in a bit)... The icon you're looking for looks like a polaroid picture with a floppy disc in front of it. Click that and locate the image you wish to host and it will generate an html code for you to paste into the text box. If you're including text, be sure to insert blank lines between text and images. And always preview before you send. Hope this was helpful, there's also the tutorial on how to post pics. Not sure if this will work the same way with an iphone but I think it should, the damn things are practically computers anyway.
