Hi Peter,

Lovely little tree, I love the trunk from both sides, but I think the foiliage looks too big for this size tree. Does the foliage reduce well on this prunus? Is it a tree you will style for its winter image, without foliage?

What time of year do you prune it?

I have one that seems to dieback when I prune the shoots when they are green, but seems to react OK when I prune in Winter when the shoots are more 'woody'.

Hope to see you again soon my friend, stay psycho!

Paul

Hi Peter. Another lovely tree you have there, my friend!

I saw some mume raw material for sale at the Swindon show that had stunning deep red, almost claret flowers. I wish I'd bought one now, sigh.

Hi Paul,
yes this tree is only for winter/spring image, they dont reduce well.
About pruning I think your wright to prune it in winter, but I dont have much experience with prunus mume yet.
Maybe others on the IBC give some more good advice.

Steve my friend,
another one will come along you even like better, just wait, I waited for years to find one, and I consider myself very lucky to now Yvonne who sold the lovely tree to me.

What are you thoughts on the new pot???

The white crackle being the new pot? I would prefer to see it in a straighter sided pot to give more stability.
