hard to find seeds
Hi everyone
My name is shane and i have been searching the internet to find the following variety's of seed Acer palatum seigen,deshojo,kashima-yatsabusa and arakawa.
Cryptomeria japonica "sugi".
Chamaecyparis "pisifera" obtusa.
Juniperus chinensis "itoigawa" and shimpaku.
Pinus thunbergii "short needle variety".
I know its a long list and I spent all day today looking for a supplier with no luck.
Im sure they would have to come from china or japan but not sure if it is legal for these seeds to come to the uk.
I have already posted this question on this site and I have looked at all the seed companies like chiltern, sheffield and nicky's seeds but none of these uk sites stock the seeds im after not even the canadian ones and misho seeds has gone to pot aswell.
please please please can someone out there help me ?
many many thanks shane.

Re: hard to find seeds
Hi Shane.
It isn't surprising that you aren't finding them.
Acer palmatum seigen, deshojo, kashima-yatsabusa and arakawa are all varieties that need to be grafted to come "true". You can take cuttings of some but seedlings will NOT be of the variety though some may closely resemble it. Only a prankster would list seeds of them.
The same is pretty much true for all of the other varieties that you listed. They take careful research, attendance of specialist bonsai shows or very generous friends to locate!
Good places in the UK to start would be the Fobbs bonsai car boot sale in Edgebaston - Birmingham, Greenwood Bonsai Studio, Green Dragon Bonsai, Kaizen Bonsai. Google them.
I'm sure others can recommend more.

Re: hard to find seeds
I could, but I won't. You are asking for a personal tutorial that exceeds my remit.
You need to be a bit more responsible for your own learning. Try researching things yourself, rather than relying on simple answers from anyone out there.

It just seems like in the bonsai world people want to exploit you rather than speak up and give some sound advice.

Damn! Seems a lot of people are pretty grumpy today.
I've always found that people -- including the bonsai community -- are happy to help someone who gives some evidence of wanting to help themselves.
(emphasis mine)Can you please explain in depth what i would need to do
That's asking for a heckuva lot more than "advice." There are many books on the subject. Try the library. You could even find some info and instructions via Google.
