English Elm raft

I've posted a couple of these before. This is a quiet country lane that has yielded some of the best Elm bonsai in my collection. Nothing to see but a few shoots punching through the grass. The farmer cuts everything to the ground every year.

This tree is by far the best one I have collected to date. I was grinning from ear to ear once the weeds and grass had been removed. Photo taken in 2009.

This pic was taken last week. Feeding every watering has improved the strength all over. Because of work commitments, I have only been able to leaf prune.

I have a day off on Friday. Looking forward to a nice relaxing day, pruning, wiring and styling this puppy.

There's a nasty rumour circulating that you'll be at Burrs this year. Course, I don't believe it myself, but I'm taking my little Elm, just in case

Nasty rumour is correct I'm afraid Steve. I am looking forward to it but just hope the language barrier can be hurdled.

Being retired means you never get a day off. I managed to fertilize yesterday, and today I pruned & repotted my buttonwood, but the laundry is piling up.

Wow. Fantastic tree. those twisty, tapered little trunks are great. Looks like ramification is coming fast too.

Day off today and between the showers I managed to get it wired and styled.

Sack the North? Too bloody late, mate. Maggie Thatcher sacked most of us years ago.

I'm quite partial to Gordon Duffett pots. A couple more years development and then I'll commision one

You seem to have a very good eye for trees in general. I have been very impressed with your other more mature trees.
