Pine Needle Damage
Hi Folks,
Below is a recent picture of my shore pines (pinus contorta contorta) needles, which shows some form of damage, sucking insect perhaps? Anybody know what it might be and any controls for it, or do I even have to worry about it? It doesn't seem to have affected much of the tree just some of the branches.
Cheers Graham

Pine Needle Damage
Hello Gman. Have you cut any of the long needles? The damage half way down on 2 of the needles, looks like a change of mind with a cut as the damage is at the same place on both of them. If it isn't scissor damage, it could be needlecast. A.copper based Fungicide should sort that out.

Re: Pine Needle Damage
Thanks Will, I appreciate the advise, I'll look for such a product and see what they've got and ......keep an eye on it next summer. No cutting of needles by choice or design.
