Juniper Rigida
Hi Everybody,
I bought this Juniper Rigida a few months ago. I quite like the trunk movement and the deadwood.
The tree stands 16 inches or 40 cm high.
I'm not sure how to go about the foliage. I have no experience with this species.
I'd appreciate if guys could give some of your expert comments / ideas.
Many thanks,
Faisal

Hello Faisal. I've never worked on Rigida before but I think you have to wire new shoots in an upright direction until they harden off, otherwise they will flop. I have worked on other needle style Junipers and recomend you get yourself some surgical rubber gloves as they stop the ouch factor. It really does work.

Re: Juniper Rigida
Hello Will, I've been looking at pictures of similar bonsai also waiting for some more comments by the more experienced people before I decide which way to go.
you're right about the gloves. I only did a bit of pruning the other day and my hands were full of scratches. Get some gloves next time.
Cheers.
