SAIKEI with Kingsville Box
I did this saikei 12/14 years ago. The trees are Kingsville box. The rocks have been cemented together to create the "bridge" over water. The tray is 23 inches long.
I was fortunate to be able to participate in workshops taught by master Tom Yamamoto back in the 1980's. Tom was a Japanese-American who served in the US Army, retired in Japan, married a Japanese woman, and took lessons at the Kawamoto saikei school in Tokyo. Tom did so well that Kawamoto made him a teacher in the school.
Tom would visit the United States, especially California, to do demonstrations and teach workshops. I worked with him on several occasions. Tom was a great teacher, a fine gentleman, and an artist in his own right. I treasure the memories.
