Re: Some pots for the new gallery
I just read thru this whole thread, such wonderful pots along the way here. I actually have the first of the two knotted rope pots on page 2!!! Such a treat that all these terrific artworks are published for us to see here. Thanks Dale.

Re: Some pots for the new gallery
Thanks guys,
Judy, I'm glad you took the 'tour'. That pot you got from Steve ( on pg. 2) is an earlier ( note date) 'Dry Riverbed' style pot that I wraped with a knotted cord soaked in my brine tank for my water softener ala Bizen styles. I did the DRB technique AFTER the cord was wrapped. The glaze on the rim is an ash glaze made with ash from my fireplace. A fairly time consuming piece!
I think I'll make another one of these today!

Killer rectangle! And I don't know quite why, but that second grass pot reminds me of auto shop, or old printing presses...
New glaze is sweet.

It reminds me an antique wooden baby crib. Something like thisJudyB wrote:... ...that second grass pot reminds me of auto shop, or old printing presses... ...
Excellent new pots and it's obvious why you had spent so much time on them!

Hello Dale
These are very nice examples of how to combine fantasy design and skill!
Your new glaze-combo is spot on.
Kind regards
Klaudia

JudyB,
Your comment about the knotted cord 'Dry riverbed' pot that you got from Steve P. got me making a few more. If you go to my FB page I did a little photo article there on making them.

Glad that you're making more of those, I think it's a spectacular pot. Someday I'll find that ume for it....

There's going to be some happy folks in NC! I really like the knotted rope stuff, and the ones you posted after!!! The patterned one is to die for.

Re: Some pots for the new gallery
I got this photo today from Colin Lewis of a potted Ponderosa Pine in a commissioned pot made to his exact specifications for this tree.
This is a fairly good-sized composition. The INSIDE dimensions of the pot are 10 inches X 10 inches x 7 inches deep. he wanted a very simple, unglazed pot with rounded edges.
He requested the incut lip at the top which was a challenge for me to do WITHOUT having any seems showing. I had to think about it for a while
