Re: Some pots for the new gallery
Just amazing. What a perfect size shape color details!!! Fits the tree like a glove.
And that first grey one is nice. How large is it?

Re: Some pots for the new gallery
Thanks Judy.
That first big gray pot went to an IBCer at the Asheville, NC show.
The second big gray one was seen drying at my house by a bonsaiman and chosen before it was glazed or high fired. It's gone through a few hands in the last couple months but I think he MAY have it now?

Thanks Andre,
I've been doing the MidAtlantic show for a BUNCH of years now! and, It's always my first show of the season so stock is fresh and plenty.

Re: Some pots for the new gallery
A couple fresh one-off pots with a new technique for me.
I'm going to be doing a line of pots with cast pewter adornments in different motifs.
Here are the first two.
First is an oval with a Salmon swimming upstream. similar on both sides.
The second is a soft corner rectangle that I made as a gift for a friend. This pot has a pewter cast Trout on each side jumping from the water.
Just some new stuff from the 'puppy mill'

Re: Some pots for the new gallery
the glazed played nice on the second side of the trout pot.
you can see/feel the turbulence generated as it breaks for the fly.
well done.

Re: Some pots for the new gallery
Here is an upside-down-cascade pot with a hand-carved seperate Ceramic 'Root Stand' stand that I made.
Bill Valavanis had this Japanese Maple in a different upside down cascade stand that I had made for him but it got broken a couple times. It was originally in a Dimig pot that I think had to be broken to repot the tree. I was hoping the pot I made could be repotted without breaking it since the stand was seperate.
He gave the tree to Joe Noga who bought this spare pot/stand I had made a few years earlier and potted it up.
I guess the foliage/trunk was hard to see when full and on a low stand so Joe had this wooden hanging stand made for it to display in the 3rd. National Show in Rochester, NY where it was the winner of "The Finest Western Display" catagory. Bill posted the winning photo on his thread here:
https://ibonsaiclub.forumotion.com/t10508-official-3rd-us-national-bonsai-exhibition-results
I have to admit that I never liked the hanging display and was a bit shocked when I saw the picture for the first time ( I missed the show due to an accident) .
Just today I got a photo of the tree taken ( By Bill I think? ) last spring before the National show with the tree in the complete pot/stand assembly.
I thought some of you might be interested in this contemporary display.
Bill might have some more info on the tree or some corrections to my story where I might be mistaken.

Re: Some pots for the new gallery
I really like the pot with the salmon on it, but the one with the bass, or trout, doesn't look convincing. The trout looks out of place to me.
Just my two cents,
John

I'm sorry John.
I didn't make it for retail.
I made it as a gift for a friend who needed a "lift".

Why are you sorry?
I just thought that you posted to get some feedback as you said that you were gonna start a line of pots with cast pewter adornments in different motifs.

Re: Some pots for the new gallery
Dale, your new pots are stunning. I love the salmon swimming the rapids, and your scoop pots are tops!
