The Hawthorn Journey - Extracting Hawthorn Seeds by De-Pulping
In this video hawthorn seeds are extracted by removing the pulp from the haws collected from the islands of Malta and Gozo. De-pulping is intended to help with a higher rate of the seeds' germination....mimicking the effect of ingestion of the haws by animals.

The Hawthorn Journey - Outdoor Wintering of some of the 'Extracted' Hawthorn seeds.

Some of the ‘extracted seeds’ i.e. seeds deliberately extracted from the fruit pulp are wintered outdoors in small-granulated pumice. They are placed against a north facing wall. Hopefully some of the seeds will germinate in the spring, but most will probably take another year.
