Spruce Needles Discoloring

Hello IBC,

I'm seeking some expert guidance on Englemann Spruce. I have an old Yamadori where most of the needles have started to discolor beginning from the end of August here in Chicago. I tried to look for any signs of fungal infection, pests, etc. but I don't see anything unusual.

The water intake has reduced drastically, and I'm tempted to investigate the roots.... I want to know what I should be looking for if/when I do uproot it.
