Beech revisited (Fagus sylvatica)
Hi,
I've had this beech from a seedling I collected by a river in Massif Central. On one side, it had a huge scar, the other side was more suited to become the front, but was bending backward and there were big wire scars on it.
So I decided to try and bend the top forward, thinking if if bends, all right, if it breaks, that won't be a big loss anyway.
It broke.
This summer:
Today:
I'll put it in a shallow pot next spring and let the new leader grow freely for a season to gain some diameter...

Do you prefer to grow on in training pots rather than the ground? has this one been put back in the ground since collection or was it all pot grown?

Hi Bobby,
This one has always been in a pot.
One of his brothers was grown in a hedge for a few years, you've seen it before I think:
February 2005:
November 2016:
And yes, it's the same tree
