Ignazio Gimabrone, founder of Trinacria Bonsai School, works on collected raw material. It is a hawthorn in the windswept style. In this video he incorporates strategic deadwood and later wires the branches to be disciplined into the fukinagashi style. And so, the journey for this tree begins.

First, two students of BCG-Malta/Trinacria Bonsai School, Charles Gauci and Emilio Bilocca, painstakingly cut off all the spines on the branches and then thoroughly wire the branches.
Subsequently, Ignazio Giambrone positions the branches and their ramifications to create the feeling as if the wind has been blowing on the tree constantly in one direction thus creating the Fukinagashi (Windswept) bonsai style.

Nice. One the first one, it would have been nice to see him using some eye protection.

Yes I told him to but with all the last minute frantic arrangements he forgot to bring them along.

Fantastic material (the kind I dream of finding) and a very nice styling job! Thanks for sharing that Cosmos. Inspiring!
Now all I need is to find someone with a old Hawthorn hedge that doesn't want it anymore. If only
Regards
Richard
