Time well spent Jim. A couple of questions. What species is the tree? Are there exposed roots, can't tell in the photos, because it needs to be anchored. And lastly, how are you going to deal with the long straight section of the trunk?

I just call it a "garden juniper." I've had it in one iteration or other for 10-15 years. It started out as a small phoenix graft. I took it apart last year.

Yes it has a nice little fan of root going off the lee side. They'll show up more as the tree matures, I think.

Pobably won't have to do much. There's more subtle back-forth movement that a 2-D photo shows.
