Thread graft question
hi
i been reading up on thread grafting techniques.
seen some good videos also, using a branch from same tree threaded through itself and also a branch from another live tree threaded through
but my question is if able to thread a branch through that has been cut from its own tree?
effectively only a branch with no root structure put into another tree?
thanks all

Re: Thread graft question
if i understand your question correctly:
once severed from the tree, the branch has nothing left to support it... (regardless if same tree or not)
that is why the grafted branch is not severed until it shows signs of its own growth.
i learned that the hard way as i was test bending a branch that i wanted to thread graft and it broke as i was testing it...
i quickly drilled the hole and stuck it in and hoped that it would work, maybe by virtue of the cambiums being in contact...
but no such luck.
luckily the tree later popped a new branch right where i wanted one !

Don't cut until the graft has closed on the entry side and on the exit side.
