Jim you have just too much time on your hands. As for the procession -- I would surely like the story behind the painting.

That's about all I have these days. But I've followed that site for 5-6 years now. I thought the bonsai perched up at he very top of the portable shrine was interesting. The shrines and their attendants are a common sight in Japan in the summer. But I've never seen one with a bonsai or one being pulled by a donkey.

Maybe someone on that site will tell us. It's hard to tell from the wear on the paper because the rice paper is quite fragile.
