Help needed, how to upload photos from iPad
Anybody out there that's using an iPad that can send me a pm telling me how to upload photos would be appreciated. When I try to put pics on this site it's not working like it did on my old computer, and it doesn't help that I'm old so therefore not clever( ha ha ) with new tec . Regards john

Re: Help needed, how to upload photos from iPad
If anyone has the answer to that, please post it here. As I said to John previously, all I know is that I can't do it from my Samsung Galaxy tablet as there is no Control key on the keyboard that would let me copy and paste as I have to do with my laptop. Is the iPad any different?

Camera phones may well be the death of web-based discussion forums. Users either can't post at all, or the pictures are all posted sideways -- especially with I-phones.

the only solution is to dump all your I-products as they are too inclusive onto themselves...
in other words, apple intentionally makes their products practically incompatible with anything other than other apple based tech.
seriously.
oh, yeah... and use your phone to make phone calls and a camera to take pictures
but in lieu of that, fiona - in regards to your galaxy, i could have sworn that there was a way to copy and paste w/o a control button
found it: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/howtoguide/N0000003/5635/34082/
sorry john, but i wont even search for anything I-related
i'm no tech snob, i just have a thing against I-stuff for the same reason i have a thing against burton snowboards
man-o-man, but i am so glad to be the age that i am...
i'm not that old, but i will be gone before the embedded micro chips are mandatory at birth.

I upload my pictures to Face book...but you can use any external server...Get the URL and post it here in the icon where when you hoover it says insert an image...
I think photoshop might be easier to get URL from...
On FB You have to do a bit of gymnastics...since you can not right click the picture to get the URL. If I recall well I had to open just the picture into a new tab to get the URL...I used it for that a year ago so I have forgotten a bit...but that is the principle...If You fail let me know so I charge my ipad and do it again so I remember better.

Re: Help needed, how to upload photos from iPad
John, when you upload a photo to IBC using the normal method, what you are in fact doing is first "lodging" it on a dedicated photo holding area called Servimg. It performs the same function as if you had put your picture on to a site such as Flickr, and what it does is create an "electronic address" called a URL (Uniform Resource Locator). It's a bit like your house's post code/zip code as it is a unique identifier or where your item is.
When Neli uploads her pic to Facebook, it does the same thing. Most phones and tablets these days have direct links to things like Facebook, Flickr and Dropbox, but until a similar way is found to load directly to IBC then we don't have that availability.
The people who manage Forumotion, our host site, I believe are working on this. Not even they, far less us, foresaw the way that smart phones and tablets would take over from conventional camera-taken and uploaded images. It will happen no doubt.
In the meantime, some folk are still trying to work out ways of shortcutting and if they find one we will add it to the Uploading Images tutorial.

Re: Help needed, how to upload photos from iPad
The tricky part is after you upload the photo, you can't copy out the address of the hosted image. I figured out a work around; once you upload the file, you take a screen shot(tap home and shutdown button at once) of the image link and then use an OCR app(I found one for free) to interpret the screen shot as text, and paste that into your post.

I managed to get the URL from FB...Just need to remember exactly how I did it...but I remember I had to open the picture in a new tab.

Re help with posting image from iPad
Thanks for trying , but unless someone says. Step 1 press this , step 2 press this , etc then it won't happen , because I don't like playing on these things , I just switch it off and read a book

YAY!!!!!!
Beer City Kevin, you are my hero. That WORKED!!!
Sorry I didn't have any tree pics in the gallery though.
John, I will see if any of our iPad owner members can try something similar.
ps my dog doesn't have an iPad. But he does listen to his music on his iPawed. His favourite composer is Poochini.

When you upload your file, copy the link at the bottom and put the img codes around it.

Re: Help needed, how to upload photos from iPad
Kennedy, can I ask what you mean by "copy"? John wants to know which buttons to press to do this.
Do you mean just type out what is written there or is there a way of copying and pasting the line like I can do on the Samsung Galaxy?
