tool and pot cleaning blocks

anyone here ever use "crean mate" ?
it is from japan and is a block used for cleaning sap & rust off tools and deposits off pots...

just wondering if it is the same thing as the sand-flex blocks that are more readily available here in the US...

(also wondering if anyone knows if "crean mate" is just a mispronunciation of "clean mate"   )

Sand-flex blocks work just fine.

I am pretty sure that 'crean' is that old cheap-joke about Asians speaking English (ala Christmas Story - bows of horry).
