Very lovely. All the right curves in all the right places. Nice pot pairing too.

hi -
looking at the tree closely with a view to see what has changed I see the following:
over the last 7 years it has got a bit wide in the middle i think, especially the right hand side - one branch is virtually the same width as the one above etc - see how there is virtually a straight line up that side of the tree now - it needs a reducing branch width and some taper putting back in the outline
the apex is a bit heavy on the right too, see how there is a section of the apex pointing up and off to the right, it could look more balanced if this side is reduced and you get the outline of the apex back to the left again. this area pointing to the right, and the over long branches also on the right are not complementing the trunk movement to the left
is it in the same pot? - you've made the picture very blue if it is - the grass is looking quite blue ? or is it my screen maybe
the bark and taper is lovely - its good that these grow from cuttings so well
hope you dont mind me saying it as i see it - it is a lovely tree but a few refining tweaks will bring the balance back to the design
cheers Marcus

Hi Marcus,
Yes i think i understand.....is it something like in this virt you think on??? looks better to me.. ;-) and yes maybe i have to focus this in future.
Let me know what you should change on the virtual..
The last years i benched the lowest left branch down , removed some wrong placed upper roots..and moved the angle of the tree to the right.
I also planted the tree a little bit higher in the pot (the root pruning made this possible)
The pot is the same grey pot....i'll make some new pics tomorrow from back and sides of the tree..(hopefully without the blue color.. )

Excellent pine, how do you manage to keep it in great shape? I still can not tame Kokonoe.

Dimitri,
Yep.....i also think think kokonoe is not a tree to pinch as books describe.....
Because the new candles are so small......i only pinch the very stong ones...and thats only a few /year..
I only try to cut back new growt from time to time to the inner green parts , and try to get the outline of the tree as i see it..
Maybe not the best and fastest method....but it seems to work.

kohaku.
Very interested in the question of farming techniques and clarifying the causes of the problems of this type of pine.
