Yes , please ,post the picture's of other one , I will wait to see final design for this one.cram wrote:thank you mehrdad!
i am not decided already of the final design
but i agree with the fact to let it grow for 1 or 2 years before the first styling
i need the tree to be in full health...and it is not the case for the moment
anyway it s little bit normal...i collect it last february ...
i will show it back to you as soon as it is healthy
j just picked up the flowers...it took me at least as much time as collecting the tree
i will take pictures of another one in my garden
with hope the post will be as much helfull as this one for me
Thank you for sharing .

I am a fan of your work. IMHO, I think the cascade is a very doable option. Sorry to high jack your thread, but I have a question for Russell.
Earlier you posted this about your BCI boxwood Quote:
BTW, the entire lower portion died this summer. One drawback of boxwoods is that they have a mind of their own. It was really nice while it lasted, oh well.
Do you think the die back was related to the tree being planted on the slab?
I was reviewing this thread and that question has been on my mind

Man that tree has put on some serious growth. I like the design your going for. I think we are both thinking on the same lines, I was wondering if that is what may have happened to Russell's tree. I have a large boxwood also and was toying with planting it on a slab. The problem I have is, my yard has little shade and strong winds most every day, my thinking was this could be a disaster in the making for my tree. What do you think?

hi cram,
very nice material, and great way to put it on the rock, as far as i can see on tofs, it looks like he has always been there.
do you plan to let the left part densify? it looks like it could be fun with this massive root.

Hi Cram,
I like the idea of putting it on a rock as long as the rock is a good one. I was wondering how your tree would look with exposed roots? I am growing two Buxus microphylla with exposed roots and like the results so far. I have a mame B. microhylla with roots over a unique piece of coprolite (fossilized turtle dung). I will try to post a photo soon.
Best,
Todd

Mitch, I don't think the slab had anything to do with it. This boxwood always had a really small root system. It was actually 2 plants grown together, upper and lower. The upper part is doing fine, maybe I'll use it in a windswept group some day. I have no idea if it would have made a difference if it had been in a pot. You win some, you lose some. This one kinda stung.
Looking good Cram!

Re: buxus yamadori...han kengai
yes aristide i will keep the little tree(and independant) on the left side
the hidden rock is very nice todd...really...it is a volcanic rock from reunion island...
black ..very nice shape...and full of glass of silicium making kind of included obsidienne pieces
and most important...flat enough on the base to put it in a thick pot
... but all this will be the surprise when i will leave the moss on it
