cedrus styling
the starter material from the nursery of Danny Use
half way styling:
current result styling. 2nd right branch appears to go straight to the right but is actually going more towards the back.. first left small branch is going slightly forward
The top view shows that there's a lot of work in balance and pad growth..
next spring i'll repot into 50-50 akadama-bims. don't know what kind of pot though.. if anyone has any idea..

Re: cedrus styling
It looks more like Cedrus atlantica glauca to me, but very good styling anyway. Except maybe the jin that looks a bit too regular, but maybe tyou'll refine it later?Cronic wrote:i'll have to ask but thought it was a "libani"

could be, need to ask Danny.. but the new growth is a bit too green for a glauca.. thought glauca was the blue version, no?AlainK wrote:It looks more like Cedrus atlantica glauca to me, but very good styling anyway. i think the photo makes it appear a bit blue.. but the normal colour can ben seen on the photo of the start plant..
thanks
yeah, i'm going to refine the Jin later on.. was working on that when my daughter woke up
going to make it more slender and maybe make the shari a bit longer..
anyway, i plan to hide it half by letting part of the top grow around it..

Re: cedrus styling
Anyway, it's a Cedrus: some dendrologists consider C. atlantica as a sub-species of C. libani, so...
I live in a region where a lot of "exotic" conifers were planted in the 19th century, or even before, and from what I can see here, C. libani has much darker green needles. I may be wrong, and photos are sometimes deceiving.
Whatever, I like your Cedrus (libani or atlantica) a lot,

Re: cedrus styling
so.. update on this one..
early 2014 it looked like this
mid 2014 after repotting and removed some wire
2015: pads have filled up nicely
winter 2016 re-wire
better picture early spring 2016
i'll just have to repot the tree in a few months to correct the potting angle..
for that moment also thinking about getting it a more suitable pot.. was thinking rectangular brownish.. any suggestions?
