nice looking material.. but it al seems like it's unstyled raw material? the trees have so much more potential imo

This was a juried show and Botanic gardens would not have exhibited un-styled trees.

Thanks for posting mike. I had the pleasure of visiting the exhibit as well.
I was under the understanding that this wasn't a juried show, only an exhibit put on by the Gardens and club members who wished to participate..?.. -- There are some trees that could use a few more years of improvement (IMO), but several of the trees are very nicely developed.

Hi Dan
Yes it was a juried show and the Botanic Gardens bonsai specialist selected/approved the trees in the show. The trees in the show except 1, were on display by local club members who wished to participate in it. All of the trees are in development including some very refined trees. Our club has a history of encourging members with varying degrees of experience to display a tree. This included the show at the Gardens. I agree with you some of the trees will need more development, but they are not unstyled raw trees. Unstyled trees would never have been aproved(juried) for the show. Club members were limited to 1 tree only and it is nice to see how some of our newer members are progressing with their trees. There getting better every year.
Regards,
Mike

Re: Denver Botanic Gardens - 2013 Fall Bonsai Show
Thanks Mike,
I'm a member of the club as well, and I was in touch with Larry about bringing a tree down for the exhibit but decided to wait until the spring show. I'm sorry, I read "juried" as meaning a judged show. I do remember Larry asking for photos of trees for selection in advance.
I hope to be there for the Fathers Day show. Maybe I'll even have a tree or two there!

Dan,
I thought the same thing when I heard "juried". Larry explained it to me this fall!

Thank you both very much for posting this! The Douglas Fir, Ponderosa Pine and Blue Spruce are very inspiring. Great to see these trees on display! I myself would enjoy seeing more of what your club is doing with these trees. Thanks again, Rick
