Re: Penjing show
Good morning IBC !
Thanks Jun for the super nice pictures, You dont look tired in your picture despite the so many sleepless nights before and during the show.
Please post the pic of the winning entry the grand winner, and also the alps inspired penjings.
There were two other IBC ers who were with us all the time, Boy Apostol and Jong.plus ofcourse, the ever faithfull Robert who I think because of his participation in this show is being lobbied in Vietnam not to include him as judge in their coming show.
The show will end today and I could say it is a great show

Here you go ka pabling!
I don't have the complete set of pictures... maybe Robert and some other IBC members could post more.
I did not mention Jong and Boy intentionally to protect them from persecution. hehe Now you already did....Thank you Boy and Jong for the much needed help.
Yes, they are trying to do to Vietnam what they did to us. But we will be there to give support to our Vietnamese friends...they are trying to make this a global issue, that's why in the beginning of this thread I put up a warning alarm alarm that this could happen to anyone/any club. The Vietnamese organizers are not backing down despite the pressure and threat.
regards,
jun:)

That said, it would be fairer if we heard from the other side as to their reasons for this attitude. Maybe an IBC member or visitor would put the case.

Rick,
I certainly hope so, but I doubt they would do it. not that they are not visiting IBC, there are some officers of the mother group who are members here. I already talked to those who committed their support and backed down in the last moment, and they are very apologetic for their actions. Even one person, a doctor who got so mad now, because he was informed by the mother group that the exhibition was cancelled. He is now joining our group.
But still, we are open to all persons, even to those who were pressured and backed down. and we'll be having another show and we would still be asking everybody to join in,,,for gods sake, it is just a hobby we are here to enjoy bonsai. hehe.

jun:)

Ka Pabling, only those idiots are interested in such cheap stuff. He is being eaten by his own panic and lower his level down. We should feel sorry for him..but thank for his free campaign. See you all in Vietnam...
BTW, Jun, I will post some photos later.

Re: Penjing show
I am confused, just what was the problem with the exhibition ?
[1] Was it the figurines used?
[2] Too Chinese ?
[3] A possible break away from the Japanese look ?
[4] A break with tradition?
Oh well, another storm in a teapot as hobbies go.
Later.

Hi IBC.
Before I show some more pictures please bear with me as I tell this important story...which someday any of you might face.
We formed a new independent group, open for all individuals coming from both "camps". The main objective of the club is to help people find a neutral venue away from the politics of bonsai and to promote Philippine bonsai in the international stage. We started a core group composed of a dozen members from the mother club , the other national club, and individuals. After the big event here (ABFF), we asked for the support of the national club, and they promised to lend us tables, give us moral support and even backed us up with little financial support. Out of courtesy we even inform them of the planned activities, name of foreign guest, etc..and then four days before the event I sent my crew and truck to pick up the tables. but they suddenly withdraw their support, just a few days where we have already booked our guest in hotels, plane ticket and arranged the venue and everything. Providing us with nonsense excuses like telling us that Mr. Budi Solistyo of Indonesia called them up telling them to halt the upcoming event in whatever cost. Their reason is that they cannot allow Robert Steven to be part of more local activities and impart his selfless acts of teaching bonsai and penjing. and another they presented us is that they won't allow individuals not associated with the mother national club to be part of an event that they personally approved.
The past several weeks , were been attacked, harassed, molested by the "mother club", Their main and only goal to stop our independent show which we opened up for all individuals. with or without any affiliation to any club or to the mother club, and I find it very immature and irrational.

Hi Jun,
Congratulations on having a big even in Philippines. I hope you have a big success. But I would like to clarify that I never called anybody in Philippines not to support you. It was their own decision and it has nothing to do with me.

None.
There's no fun in winning a trophy/award.. If you're the one handling the event, judging and awarding...hehehe.
Oh I have a very small display...not competing, just to occupy the single remaining stand.

Thanks Budi!
That is what they are telling around here. They are putting your name in a very bad situation. I did what I can to reverse the situation that's why I sent you an email on the first day of the event, I tried to tell to those who went to the event that you did not made a call, but the damage that they have done (not on us) is irreversible as I can't reach everybody because most people who believed them already closed their doors on us.

Re: Penjing show
I hope it was not the case, neither nor the messages I got from Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. What a coincident with our domestic issue, no fire please, so not get burned...
The true "challenging enemy" in bonsai is ourself, nothing like MuaiThai...
BTW, here are some of the pictures I took....
