Greetings, Hattori. As Jim says, your English is fine. How tall is your Olive? And how wide is it at the base? And again I agree with Jim, another 4-5 years and this will be a beautiful tree.

Hatorri,
Hola! Buen ejemplar. Has intentado adquirir olivos de Mallorca? Son realmente espectaculares, con mucha obra muerta y troncos sinuosos. De qué parte de Españá éres? Conoces a David Benavente?
Yo tengo un olivo que lleva más de 30 años en entrenamiento como bonsai. Comenzó como un esqueje y se ha desarrollado extremadamente bién.
Saludos cordiales,
Jose Luis
Hello Hatorri,
Nice tree, Have you ever tried to acquire olive trees from Mallorca? They are really spectacular, with lots of dead wood and trunk movement. From which part of Spain are you? Do you know David Benavente?
I have an olive bonsai that has been in training for over 30 years. It started out as a cutting and has developed quite nicely.
Kind regards,
Jose Luis

Re: Hello friends!! Olea Silvestris
I hate you.
This is what I could achieve in at least four years over here!
I even tried to sell the three pitiful ones i have to my friends at the club half-price, no one would take them and here I am, unable to make something good out of them, unable to kill them.
My only option to keep a good image of myself: give them to someone in yhe south of France, or Catalunya, so they can have a chance to be what they can be in their natural, suitable environment...

Hmmm. Yeah, but I kinda think that's what it's all about in certain cases - i.e. if you've got a species that can produce new branches quickly like an olive can, then hey why not do it? Just look at some of the results that have been posted on this forum, and Hattori's is now on its way there too. We're doing the same in the UK with Privets and Escallonias to name but two. As Pabling says - 'branches coming out where you like and need it, and fantastic base'. It's like having a blank canvas upon which to paint.
Hey Leonardo: any chance of updating your profile so we can see where you are? I want to know where to come to get the house and dog as I have a tree just like that one you are coveting.

I too have been afflicted with stump madness. You can grow from scratch until the cows come home and you will never get a 6 inch base on a 10 inch tree.
As far as my location fiona, that has to be kept top secret, I have record a mile long of past offenses.
ciao....Leonardo

Hattorri,
David Benavente has been my friend for well over 15 years. I am a frequent contributor to Bonsai Actual and have provided several Shari Sidiao articles for him.
I have seen the work of Gabriel Romero in Bonsai Pasión. Quite nice..

Jose Luis
