Larch Question
Hi all. Long time lurker here. I have a twin trunk larch that is in a ~3 gal plastic nursery container. It has become severely root bound but it is still growing well. At least it was fine last season. I'm in SE Michigan. I plan to re-pot it this spring. My question is, what is the best time to re-pot this tree? Also how much of the root ball can I reasonably take off?
Thanks

Re: Larch Question
for larches you repot them right when the buds are starting to swell. if the buds have popped and are showing green you gotta wait till next year. and for how much roots to take off since its in a nursery container and has probably been in there a while its really hard to say how much to take off your really gonna have assess the roots when you go to repot and just put it into a smaller container and every repot reduce the root mass by one third and put in a even smaller container till its in the desired size container
